Styrofoam "Recycling"

Have you ever received "sheets" of styrofoam packing material in your delivery boxes?  I ordered some new furniture for our school room that was protected with these styrofoam "sheets".

I came up with a fun way to "recycle" these materials.
I love the way that pictures on canvas look, so I came up with the idea of letting the kids paint on them.  They used finger paint, because it spreads well, shows texture, and it cleans up easy.

Here are some of my kids "masterpieces".

They hang easily.  Just put a small nail in the wall, and push the foam onto it.

  1. Styrofoam used in food packaging is usually contaminated and would require cleaning before they can be processed for recycling. This adds further cost to the process of recycling Styrofoam, making it economically less viable.

    1. That's interesting. My project required use of styrofoam used in furniture packing. More of a way to reuse styrofoam.

  2. Good post! About the waste Styrofoam, our company INTCO also has many machines to deal with Styrofoam recycling. Our company has compactor, melter, dewatering machine, and crusher which all can deal with it. Here is our website: http://www.intcorecycling.com/GREENMAX-EPS-Styrofoam-Recycling-Machines.html
